Alivio-Telehealth Student Health Navigator Internship

2022-2023

Position Description

 

Alivio-Telehealth, a 501c3 (C4763279) Non Profit Agency, dedicated to providing ambulatory clinical healthcare to underserved populations is recruiting up to 8 Health Care Navigators for the 2021 - 2022 academic year. This is an unpaid internship position that requires a commitment of three (3) quarters (Winter, Spring and Summer). Alivio-Telehealth Navigators will volunteer 40 hours per quarter, approximately 4 hours each week when classes are in session. All student positions are supervised by Alivio-telehealth staff in coordination with health care academic advisors from each participating university.

 

 

Position Duties

  • Participate in outreach and tabling efforts throughout the year

  • Participate on online and in person Alivio-Telehealth trainings

  • Conduct urban and rural community health care assessments

  • Facilitate student presentations in the community and on campus

  • Connect families health and mental health resources both on and off-campus

  • Attend mandatory weekly team meetings on Wednesdays from 4:00 pm to 5 pm during 2022-2023 academic year

  • Become certified in the use of Alivio-Telehealth RPM platform

  • Complete 40 internship hours each quarter (4 hours per week) throughout the academic year and write a 2 page summary report as to their experience

Position Description

 

The goal for Alivio-Telehealth Navigators is to build a core of dedicated bilingual students in the health care and mental health fields. Our expectation is that by being engaged with practical urban and rural health care delivery experiences students will gain leadership, professionalism, compassion and the desire to promote health care solutions to deal with the health care disparities affecting our California underserved communities.

 

 

 

Required

  • Satisfactory academic standing

  • Bilingual English and Spanish ability

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work in the field and online environments

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

 

Preferred

  • Experience working on a team dedicated to health care fields

  • Demonstrated involvement in their local community and campus

  • Experience with mental well-being topic areas, public health and/or health promotion
